Split Rail Fence

We put up a split rail fence to define the circle drive in front of the house on the south side.

Stripping the old shingles off the garage area, the previous owner did NOT attach garage to the house so it was a 'project' to prepare it for the new shingles.

End of a long tiring day...

Later that day help showed up to strip old shingles off the detached garage, they were a welcome sight.

Later Carson put bundles of shingles up on the roof, its ready to shingle.

One of my jobs is to pick up the trash and run magnet over ground to get nails picked up, I am sure I will have a can full when we are done. Note: most of the nails are really old and have been in the ground for years. Each time wind blows or we get rain more old nails are uncovered.

Paint... "No Carson I didnt say it would be gray, I said green.....

Another sign that we are getting the outside of the house done is finally getting to chose a paint color. It was not easy. Carson wanted gray or brown, but it got a green color called Folkstone. I wanted to stay with natural colors that fit into what we already have done.

You can faintly see the difference of what has and has not been painted. Its a one person crew, so it doesn't happen real fast!

The two big front windows are original to house and have wood frames, so they needed a lot of attention, here they are getting the final coat of paint....for this year.

The good thing about painting and climbing the scaffolding is that I dropped two pant sizes!! So no more complaining from me!

Garage Footings

The cement had to be put in wheelbarrow and taken to the footing frames. Not an easy job.

Anytime cement comes, we have other areas ready to be poured also, here we are finishing the sidewalk on east side of garage.

...and on the south side of the garage, we changed garage from a two car to a one car.

We added some 'interest' to the front entrance area with some bricks in the cement, I did most all the work, but of course I am the only one who makes sure pictures are taken.
